There is no doubt that at the moment there is a massive trend to be greener. The government are making sure that we are all more aware of how to protect our environment and encouraging us to recycle.
They are also looking in to renewable sources of energy and how they can help to improve the plight of the planet. However, there is a risk that this is just a trend which will not continue in the future. Despite the fact that research has shown that the planet is suffering as a result of the way we currently generate our energy, there is research that shows the opposite. This research has been publicised on some occasions and many people felt that it was correct and had some grounding. The difficulty with research is that the results can easily be manipulated to say what the researcher wants them to say.
Statistics can after be made to look like they are showing something different tow hat they actually are and it could only take a few pieces of well publicised material which state that the planet is fine to get everyone thinking that green energy is a waste of time and money. The problem with the destruction of the planet is that the process is so slow that we cannot see it in a lifetime and therefore we are not motivated to do anything about it. In the future, it is likely that this will change and there will be greater evidence pointing towards the sorts of things that are causing the planet to suffer. However, it may be too late by then to do much about it and so even if you just put up a few solar panels or start recycling more, that bit of a difference could significantly help the planet and will send out a message to other people that they should be thinking about doing the same.
